CVE-2024-53075
Disclosure Date: November 19, 2024 (last updated January 05, 2025)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
riscv: Prevent a bad reference count on CPU nodes
When populating cache leaves we previously fetched the CPU device node
at the very beginning. But when ACPI is enabled we go through a
specific branch which returns early and does not call 'of_node_put' for
the node that was acquired.
Since we are not using a CPU device node for the ACPI code anyways, we
can simply move the initialization of it just passed the ACPI block, and
we are guaranteed to have an 'of_node_put' call for the acquired node.
This prevents a bad reference count of the CPU device node.
Moreover, the previous function did not check for errors when acquiring
the device node, so a return -ENOENT has been added for that case.

CVE-2024-53058
Disclosure Date: November 19, 2024 (last updated January 05, 2025)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: stmmac: TSO: Fix unbalanced DMA map/unmap for non-paged SKB data
In case the non-paged data of a SKB carries protocol header and protocol
payload to be transmitted on a certain platform that the DMA AXI address
width is configured to 40-bit/48-bit, or the size of the non-paged data
is bigger than TSO_MAX_BUFF_SIZE on a certain platform that the DMA AXI
address width is configured to 32-bit, then this SKB requires at least
two DMA transmit descriptors to serve it.
For example, three descriptors are allocated to split one DMA buffer
mapped from one piece of non-paged data:
dma_desc[N + 0],
dma_desc[N + 1],
dma_desc[N + 2].
Then three elements of tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[] will be allocated to hold
extra information to be reused in stmmac_tx_clean():
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 0],
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 1],
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 2].
Now we focus on tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[entry].buf, which is the D…

CVE-2024-50200
Disclosure Date: November 08, 2024 (last updated November 08, 2024)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
maple_tree: correct tree corruption on spanning store
Patch series "maple_tree: correct tree corruption on spanning store", v3.
There has been a nasty yet subtle maple tree corruption bug that appears
to have been in existence since the inception of the algorithm.
This bug seems far more likely to happen since commit f8d112a4e657
("mm/mmap: avoid zeroing vma tree in mmap_region()"), which is the point
at which reports started to be submitted concerning this bug.
We were made definitely aware of the bug thanks to the kind efforts of
Bert Karwatzki who helped enormously in my being able to track this down
and identify the cause of it.
The bug arises when an attempt is made to perform a spanning store across
two leaf nodes, where the right leaf node is the rightmost child of the
shared parent, AND the store completely consumes the right-mode node.
This results in mas_wr_spanning_store() mitakenly duplicating the n…

CVE-2024-50191
Disclosure Date: November 08, 2024 (last updated December 21, 2024)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ext4: don't set SB_RDONLY after filesystem errors
When the filesystem is mounted with errors=remount-ro, we were setting
SB_RDONLY flag to stop all filesystem modifications. We knew this misses
proper locking (sb->s_umount) and does not go through proper filesystem
remount procedure but it has been the way this worked since early ext2
days and it was good enough for catastrophic situation damage
mitigation. Recently, syzbot has found a way (see link) to trigger
warnings in filesystem freezing because the code got confused by
SB_RDONLY changing under its hands. Since these days we set
EXT4_FLAGS_SHUTDOWN on the superblock which is enough to stop all
filesystem modifications, modifying SB_RDONLY shouldn't be needed. So
stop doing that.

CVE-2024-50157
Disclosure Date: November 07, 2024 (last updated December 21, 2024)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/bnxt_re: Avoid CPU lockups due fifo occupancy check loop
Driver waits indefinitely for the fifo occupancy to go below a threshold
as soon as the pacing interrupt is received. This can cause soft lockup on
one of the processors, if the rate of DB is very high.
Add a loop count for FPGA and exit the __wait_for_fifo_occupancy_below_th
if the loop is taking more time. Pacing will be continuing until the
occupancy is below the threshold. This is ensured by the checks in
bnxt_re_pacing_timer_exp and further scheduling the work for pacing based
on the fifo occupancy.

CVE-2024-50108
Disclosure Date: November 05, 2024 (last updated November 09, 2024)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/display: Disable PSR-SU on Parade 08-01 TCON too
Stuart Hayhurst has found that both at bootup and fullscreen VA-API video
is leading to black screens for around 1 second and kernel WARNING [1] traces
when calling dmub_psr_enable() with Parade 08-01 TCON.
These symptoms all go away with PSR-SU disabled for this TCON, so disable
it for now while DMUB traces [2] from the failure can be analyzed and the failure
state properly root caused.

CVE-2024-51744
Disclosure Date: November 04, 2024 (last updated November 05, 2024)
golang-jwt is a Go implementation of JSON Web Tokens. Unclear documentation of the error behavior in `ParseWithClaims` can lead to situation where users are potentially not checking errors in the way they should be. Especially, if a token is both expired and invalid, the errors returned by `ParseWithClaims` return both error codes. If users only check for the `jwt.ErrTokenExpired ` using `error. Is`, they will ignore the embedded `jwt.ErrTokenSignatureInvalid` and thus potentially accept invalid tokens. A fix has been back-ported with the error handling logic from the `v5` branch to the `v4` branch. In this logic, the `ParseWithClaims` function will immediately return in "dangerous" situations (e.g., an invalid signature), limiting the combined errors only to situations where the signature is valid, but further validation failed (e.g., if the signature is valid, but is expired AND has the wrong audience). This fix is part of the 4.5.1 release. We are aware that this changes the behavio…

CVE-2024-50074
Disclosure Date: October 29, 2024 (last updated November 08, 2024)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
parport: Proper fix for array out-of-bounds access
The recent fix for array out-of-bounds accesses replaced sprintf()
calls blindly with snprintf(). However, since snprintf() returns the
would-be-printed size, not the actually output size, the length
calculation can still go over the given limit.
Use scnprintf() instead of snprintf(), which returns the actually
output letters, for addressing the potential out-of-bounds access
properly.
